My name is Vivian and I am currently volunteering at a women’s shelter and orphanage in Mexico City called Casa De Las Mercedes. I decided to come here because I have read and seen so much online about the sexual and physical abuse that I wanted to come see for myself. Reading stories and watching videos online is completely different than actually meeting these women in person. Sometimes we forget how fortunate we really are, especially in comparison to other countries around the world.

There are millions of young girls who have experienced some sort of violent sexual act during their lives, yet it is a conversation that many of us avoid. But I don’t think it should be this way — this is a conversation that everyone should be having in order to fix what is going on around here. I am excited to say that I have teamed up with Current Solutions to help share the experiences of these brave young women. We want to share the stories of these brave girls and showcase their strength and courage. We believe that through small actions, we can change their lives. We believe EVERY person has the right to have their voice heard – regardless of race, gender, nationality, or sexual orientation. We want these girls’ voices to be heard, and we need YOUR HELP!

We’re launching a GoFundMe fundraiser on AUGUST 8th to help raise $10,000 to provide funds for these girls at Casa De Las Mercedes. All of the money will go to education and improving the girls living conditions — which will help them get back on their feet and learn how to become self-sustaining.

Please help us share the campaign when we launch on August 8th. We need as many supporters as possible to help make this fundraiser a success.

On behalf of Casa De Las Mercedes, Current Solutions, AIESEC, and the community, I would like to thank you all for your help and support.
